one-breath-one-movement
A Vinyasa yoga class is a dynamic, flow-based practice that links breath to movement. It involves a sequence of poses that smoothly transition from one to the next, creating a continuous flow of movement. The class typically begins with a warm-up, progresses to a more challenging series of poses, and ends with a cool-down and relaxation. Vinyasa is known for its variety, as each class can offer a different sequence, making it suitable for all levels. It helps build strength, flexibility, and mindfulness while providing a moving meditation experience.
slow flow
A Hatha yoga class is a gentle, slower-paced practice that focuses on holding poses for longer periods while maintaining alignment and control of the breath. It involves a balanced combination of physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation. Unlike flow-based styles, Hatha emphasizes proper form and mindful awareness in each posture, making it a great option for beginners or those looking to deepen their practice. The class typically includes a warm-up, a series of poses that build strength and flexibility, and a final relaxation. This style of yoga asana helps improve balance, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.
stillness
A Yin yoga class is a slow, meditative practice that focuses on deep stretches and long holds, targeting the connective tissues like fascia, ligaments, and joints. Poses are held for 3-5 minutes or longer, allowing time for muscles to relax and for a gentle, deep stretch to reach the deeper layers of the body. Yin yoga encourages stillness, helping to improve flexibility, release tension, and enhance circulation. It also provides a calming space for introspection and mindfulness, making it an excellent complement to more active styles of yoga. The class often includes a series of seated or lying-down poses and concludes with a deep relaxation.
